Roberto “Bobby” Hernandez, age 74, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at UTMB Hospital. He was a proud BOI, born in Galveston, Texas on November 21, 1943. He was a welder for over 35 years for the Boilermakers Union Local 132. He was a proud member of LULAC Council 151 as well as a member of Holy Family Parish, where he was very active in the Men’s Club and numerous other committees with the Parish. He also coached and played fast pitch softball. He never met a stranger and he was always the first to help anyone in need. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife Estella Hernandez; and parents Bonifacio and Socorro Hernandez.

He is survived by his children John Richard Flores, Sabrina H. Gonzales, Adan Hernandez and wife Gabby, Andrea F. Hernandez; his five grandchildren, Crispin Gonzales, Victoria Hernandez, Adriana Gonzales, Sebastian Hernandez and Ivan Hernandez; one great-grandchild Anaya Gonzales; sisters Julia Valdez and Lorena Castro and husband Tilo; brother Johnny Hernandez and wife Mary; and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a Rosary to begin at 6:30 P.M., with Deacon Robert Standridge officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Jude Ezuma officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Texas Medical Center Memorial Herman Transplant Center. They were an incredible team and we are sincerely grateful for all of their care and support for our father.
