Vincent E. Soler, Jr., age 87, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at The Meridian. He was born in Galveston, Texas on April 15, 1936. He graduated as Valedictorian from Kirwin High School. After high school, he graduated from St. Edward’s University, where he played on the baseball team for 4 years. After college, he served in the National Guard. After serving in the National Guard, he then went to work for Great Southern and American National Insurance, where he served as Controller.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vincent Sr. and Julia Soler; sister Jean Polocheck and brother Morris Joseph Soler.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Frances Soler; daughter Kimberly Ann Harding and husband Douglas; and son Scott Soler and wife Sharon; grandchildren Justin, Joshua, Jevon, Sloane and Jackson; and brother Richard Soler.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1010 35th Street, Galveston, Texas, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., with a Rosary to begin at 10:00 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 A.M, with Father Jude Ezuma officiating, assisted by Deacon Robert Standridge. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ron Bailey, Donald Stewart, Tom Wilson, Glenn Brouillard and Angelo Urbani.
