Theresa Cromer Obituary

Theresa Camano Cromer, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on January 15, 2025 at the age of 87 with her daughter by her side. She was born on April 4, 1937 at John Sealy in Galveston, Texas to Rafael and Maria de Jesus Hernandez Camano. She grew up in Galveston and graduated from Ursuline Academy. She achieved her dream goal of becoming an Xray technician working at St. Mary’s and U.T.M.B. and for Dr. Bill Peterek. 

Theresa was passionate about her faith and served the church her whole life. She was proud to serve at Guadalupe, St. Patrick’s, and Holy Family as Eucharistic Minister, Altar Society, RCIA teacher, and a beloved lifelong Damas. She was a devoted Galvestonian and proud BOI. 

Love began when she met Thomas W. Cromer and they went to Jacksonville, Florida to marry in 1957.They were married for 64 years. As they traveled for the Navy, four children were born and they settled in Galveston. 

She had a passion for growing plumerias. She found joy in making her friends and family personalized quilts. She enjoyed life and loved going to bingo, and dog track with her son Roger or playing the slots. Baking for family parties making her delicious Polovorones were a favorite. Theresa was a strong willed person and she lived life to the fullest. She was a fearless woman who knew who she was. She was very proud of her Mexican American heritage and loved to share her family history. She always spoke her mind and was not one to hide her feelings. Her kindness, strength and wisdom left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. 

Theresa is survived by her loving children, Roger Cromer, Amelia Barr (Kevin), Wesley Cromer (Veronica). Her grandchildren, Kristal Cromer Webster (Brian), Sara Cromer Seymour (Bradley), Laura Savage, Charles Barr (Bethany), Richard Barr, Theresa Barr-Williams (Terrell), Amelia Grace Barr, Chris Cromer, Katie Cromer, Brittany Cromer, Steven Cromer. She leaves behind 8 great grandchildren. A beloved sister Amelia Collins. Her adopted daughters Susan Cromer Savage and Elizabeth Cromer Holtke, both she dearly loved. Last, but not least, her very best friends Emma Williams and Annie Leal. There are many cherished, close relatives and friends she leaves behind that she  loved and adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Thomas (Bo) Cromer, her dearly loved son George Cromer and her dear sister Margarita Camano Cruz. 

With unwavering faith and a heart of love, Theresa brought joy to all who really knew her. She cherished her family, trusted in God and filled her moments with laughter, joy. Though she is now in His embrace, her love will forever live in the hearts of the ones who truly loved her.
