Shirley Marie Senseney

Shirley Marie Norris Senseney went home to Jesus surrounded by family in her home Sunday July 25, 2021.  A Christian graveside service will be held at Port Bolivar Historical Cemetery on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 10 am with a celebration of life to follow at P.B.V.F.D., with Tony Pulliam officiating.

Shirley was born at home in Port Bolivar on 12/24/31 to Ulysses Paul & Rhea Norris. She was born and raised in Port Bolivar, TX, calling Frenchtown Road home her whole life. 

She was married to the love of her life Charles August Senseney for 57 wonderful years. Shirley’s children & grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spoiling all her babies.

She is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her first grandchild, Jasen August Guidry and her brothers, Horace and Junior Norris. She is survived by her 5 children Janelle Brannan, Diana Guidry, Frank Senseney, Paul Senseney, Rhea Senseney and her favorite daughter in law Charlotte Ann Senseney. She leaves behind her sister Gloria Norris Sievers, her grandchildren Arthur Guidry Jr, Charles Brannan, Melissa Senseney Anderson, Michael Farrell, Kyle Brannan, Ciara Jones, Christian Senseney, Ryne Hickman and Garrett Jones. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Trent, Kade & Jayden Guidry, Lukas & Marianna Legg, Jakob Brannan, Malachi August Jones, Harper Renee Jones, Kanten & Kane Farrell, Landry Paul & Lydia Anderson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. 

Those that knew her knew she was full of spunk. She loved people and loved to tease and aggravate. If she liked you, you knew it and if she didn’t, well you knew that too.  She had a great sense of humor and told it like it was. She enjoyed picking and flying the bird on occasion. Many of the locals and delivery folks got a big kick out of her colorful personality. 

She was an excellent cook and loved being in the kitchen surrounded by family and friends. She is well remembered for her gumbo, bread pudding, cherry delight that her family would fight over & homemade root beer. 

Shirley was an active and very involved member of OUR MOTHER MERCY CATHOLIC CHURCH FOR 77 years. She served on the parish council as well as the altar society and lead the rosary regularly. 

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Arthur Guidry Jr, Charles Brannan, Michael Farrell, Kyle Brannan, Christian Senseney, Garrett Jones and Trent and Kade Guidry.
