Seferino A. (Sef) Castillo passed away peacefully at home, after an extended illness, on Monday, December 22, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
Sef was born on August 23, 1936, in Victoria, Texas, to Seferino Castillo and Anita Moreno. He grew up in Galveston, Texas, where he attended Ball High School. From 1953 to 1955, Sef proudly served in the U.S. Army, receiving his dream assignment in Paris, France, working for the European Command Zone.
After his honorable discharge, Sef returned to Galveston, where he earned his Master Machinist Certification from Galveston College. He dedicated more than 20 years to Farmers Marine and served as President of Machinist Local 6 until his retirement.
A lifelong learner, Sef was passionate about history and religion. He and his wife traveled extensively, visiting historical sites, museums, battlefields, and churches around the world.
Sef was preceded in death by his parents, Seferino and Anita Castillo; his sister, Mary Castillo (John); and his brother, Leonel “Lone” Castillo (Evelyn).
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Angie; his children, Anita Perez (Ruben), Sef Castillo (Elena), Steve Castillo (Lisa), and Liz Castillo (Jeff); his grandchildren, Ruben (JR) Perez, Sef Castillo (Sierra), Zac Castillo, Joshua Castillo, Luke Castillo, Isabella Castillo, Parker Prets (Devin), Jordan Dubrow, Gabrielle Prets and Mikenzy Dubrow; and his sister, Anita Serrano.
Visitation will be held at J. Levy Termini Funeral Home on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with a reception afterward. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Pallbearers will be Ruben (JR) Perez, Sef Castillo, Parker Prets, Josh Castillo, Jordan Dubrow, Zac Castillo and Luke Castillo.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Anita and Ruben Perez for their unwavering care and support over the past two years.
