Richard Franklin Erskine, Sr., age 74, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1948. He was an Army brat and visited numerous places in the world. His favorite place was Baumholder, Germany, where he was in a band during his high school years. He returned to the U.S. to graduate from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas. After high school, he went to work as a truck driver for 30 years. He logged 3 million miles driving across the United States. He moved to Galveston in 1996 and became a security guard for the cruise ships, until he passed away.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Frances Erskine and his brother Hugh Erskine, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Anger, Michelle Goodell and Richard Erskine, Jr and wife Yesenia; grandchildren, Casey Goodell, Tawni Tawman, Paige Ardwin, Kevin Erskine and Justin Erskine; and great-granddaughter Kehlani Ortiz.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. A Masonic service will begin at 6:00 P.M., led by Donnie Little. After the Masonic service, there will be a celebration of life service for anyone who wishes to share memories or stories about Richard.
