Pete Gonzales

Pete Gonzales, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Dickinson, TX.   

Born in Galveston, Texas on September 20, 1944, Pete was the eldest son of Pete Sr. and Carmen Gonzales. He attended Galveston Ball High prior to joining the United States Navy, where he served for 4 years. Pete was a welder by trade until retirement. 

Pete was a devoted husband for 57 years, father and grandfather. He enjoyed listening to music, watching the Astros and Dallas Cowboys play, but most of all he enjoyed being a grandpa. He could often be found playing with his grandkids and watching Disney movies with them. He had a great sense of humor and easy-going attitude.  He loved to cook for his family and friends, often firing up the pit at a moment’s notice. He will be remembered for his soft heart for others and animals, often providing hearty meals for both. He was a great listener and a genuinely accepting soul. 

Pete is predeceased by his parents, Pete Sr. and Carmen Gonzales, wife, Juana “Jeanette” Gonzales, son, Peter Gonzales III, and Sister-in-Law Gracie Gonzales. 

Pete is survived by his brothers, Arthur Gonzales, Richard Gonzales (Darla), Robert Gonzales (Jo Yvonne), daughter, Elaine Ayala (Chris), son, John Edward Gonzales (Patricia) and his grandchildren, Johnathan Gonzales, (Skye and son Miles), Jeffrey Wadkins, Miranda Gonzales, Jake Wadkins, Jonah Gonzales, and Isabella Ayala, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:00am followed by a Celebration of Life from 10:00 – 11:00am at The Gathering Church, 2418 7th Avenue North, Texas City, TX 77590. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Divinity Hospice who graciously and compassionately cared for Pete. The love, care, and kindness provided by nurse Joan and CNAs, Lashawnda & Yolanda, will be forever remembered and appreciated.
