Patricia Ziesemer joined her loving husband in heaven, passing peacefully and surrounded by family in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 5th, 2024.
Pat was born in Connecticut in March of 1943, soon thereafter her family moved to Texas. She grew up Greenville, Texas as the middle child of five.
Pat went on to have five children of her own: Cathy, William, John, Phillip, and Michael. Pat’s children were her world and her truest sense of joy, pride, and fulfillment.
For most of Pat’s life, she lived in Galveston, Texas where she met her husband of 51 years. Pat met Herman Ziesemer Jr. shortly after moving to Galveston and within only months they married. She carried his love and memory for the past 10 years after his death in 2014, often sharing cherished memories with anyone who would listen. Truly only death could part them as she was still wearing not only her engagement and wedding band, but also his wedding band when she passed.
Pat was active in the community for many years, including a significant dedication to the Boy Scouts of America and membership in the American Business Women’s Association including serving as Chapter President in 1992 and receiving nomination for Woman of the Year in 1993. There is no doubt that her success in the ABWA can be attributed to the support of her work family at Joe Tramonte Realty where she enjoyed working for 33 years until retirement.
Pat was also as patriotic as they came and her support for the troops was nothing short of powerful. She was a champion of justice, kindness, tolerance, and understanding. She did not do this in silence, she was vocal in her virtues including adding her name to the “Wall of Tolerance” at the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery, Alabama.
Although Pat only had five children of her own, she essentially “adopted” each of her children’s friends as her own and loved them as such. She was quick to open her heart and her home, especially if someone was in need. Her compassion and capacity for forgiveness was inspiring. She recognized that all need to be forgiven at times, including herself, so she gave it freely yet expected nothing in return.
In her later years, she enjoyed a simple life living with her life-long best friend and confidant, her sister Catherine. She considered her sister her angel, sent straight from heaven. Pat’s children, and all others who love her, have her beloved sister, affectionately known as AC, to thank for being her very best friend, her caregiver, her steward, and for not only being her light but theirs as well, holding her hand through the storm of her last days to reach the serenity of heaven. With all the love, in all the hearts, of all those who cared for her, thank you AC!
Pat was preceded in death by her adoring husband Herman Ziesemer Jr. and her brother Jack Clements, as well as her parents John and Mary Clements.
She is survived by her five children, Cathy Catron, William Dee Sanders, John Ziesemer, Phillip Ziesemer, and Michael Ziesemer. Her grandchildren; Zach and Michael Cox, Chris Sanders, Kayla Flood, Tyler Sanders, and Breanna Bench. Her sisters Mary Laurel and Catherine Spinks and her brother Michael Clements.
A memorial service will be held at J. Levy & Termini in Galveston, Texas on Saturday, December 14, 2024 beginning at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to make donations in her memory to either the Bay Area Boy Scouts of America or the Wounded Warrior Project.
