Patricia Ann Vondra

Patricia “Pat” Ann Lowry Vondra, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at her residence in Crystal Beach, Texas.  She was born on December 29, 1943 in Houston, Texas to parents Michael Patrick O’Grady and Ora Mae Badeaux O’Grady.

She graduated from Incarnate Academy in Houston, Texas in 1961.  Pat received her Associates Degree in Arts and Science from College of the Mainland in 1985 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar University in May 1987.

Her employment history began with Foley’s Department Store, Texaco and then Delta Airlines. Following her retirement from Delta Airlines, Pat attended College of the Mainland Police Academy. After graduation, she went to work for the City of Crystal Beach Police Department where she served as Chief of Police until that position was terminated. Pat then became employed with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department serving in capacity as Sargent until her retirement. Following her retirement from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department, Pat came back to Crystal Beach where she was employed as a Deputy Constable for Galveston County until she ran for and was elected and served as Judge of Bolivar Peninsula from 1999-2016.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; first husband of 30 years, Don Lowry; and son Donnie Vondra.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jimmy Vondra of Crystal Beach, Texas; son, Jeff Vondra of Alvin, Texas; granddaughter, Kylee Vondra of Orlando, Florida; grandson, Justin Vondra of Alvin, Texas; sister-in-laws, Jean Davenport of Crockett, Texas; Mary Ann Lightsey and husband Mike Lightsey of Crocket, Texas; special cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Bay Vue United Methodist Church, 1411 State Highway 87, Crystal Beach, Texas, with Reverend Valerie Hudson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service time beginning at 9:00 A.M.  Interment will be held at 5:00 P.M. at Center Hill Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas, with Reverend Tommy Hutto officiating.

Pallbearers will be Doug Considine, William Comeaux, Rodney Kahla, Richard Loftin, Moody Fredenburg and Gregory Rodriguez.
