Mark L. Kostelecky

Mark L. Kostelecky, age 64, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 14, 1960 in Galesburg, Illinois. He was a devoted Catholic man and member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, which is now Holy Family Parish. Mark was the maintenance supervisor for 35 years. 

Mark was an amazing husband, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. Mark worked hard to provide for his family, always working 3 jobs, the church, mowing lawns for seniors, working on the docks, as well as helping different organizations with set-ups and breakdowns. 

Mark and Doris enjoyed two years of retirement, fishing, biking, hiking and traveling to see the back roads of America. 

Mark is survived by his wife Doris Kostelecky; son Joseph A. Moore of LaPorte, Indiana; daughter Marie Kostelecky of Conroe, Texas; sister Kim Rosencran of Quincy, Illinois; grandchildren Joseph Moore, III of San Diego, California, Audrey Tucker of Michigan City, Indiana, Alissa Kilbourn of Galveston, Texas, Juliana Kilbourn of LaPorte, Texas and Royce Kilbourn, Jr of Conroe, Texas; great-grandson Eren Hoggatt of LaPorte, Texas. He is also survived by his best friends Rick Downard and Joe Puma. 

Mark will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic beginning at 10:00 A.M., with a Rosary starting at 10:30 A.M. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M., with Father Jude Ezuma officiating. 

Mark was an advocate for those that were homeless and anyone in need. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local food pantry or Salvation Army.
