Maria "Ama" Mendoza

Maria De Los Angeles Mendoza "Ama", 86 of Galveston, TX passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.

Maria was born on October 29, 1935 in Zaragoza, Coahuila. She was a loving, strong, hardworking and caring wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Isidro Mendoza Sr., parents, Antonio & Maria de los Angeles Unate, and granddaughter Bianca Nino-Celaya, her siblings Sebastian Uñate, Pedro Uñate, Antonio Uñate, Eugenio Uñate, Rumaldo Uñate,  Teresa de Jesús Fraga, Andrea Cervantes, Maria del Carmen Dominguez & Cesar Uñate.

She leaves cherished memories with her 7 children, Lydia & Lorenzo Navarro, Francisco Mendoza, Ramon & Estefana Mendoza, Luis (Bonnie) Mendoza, Isidro Mendoza Jr., Lucy & Alfredo Muros, and Rosalba & Carlos Mendoza Caraves; 25 grandchildren, Jerry & Amy Nino, Javie & Cristal Nino, Jere (Lydia) Nino, Veronica Romero, Juan Mendoza, Sara Mendoza, Margaret Price, Olivia & Hector Marquez, Ramon & Yana Mendoza, Fernando Guillen, Joseph & Dilya Mendoza, Amanda & Shawn Ryken, Elaina & Adam McKinlay, Bruce Mendoza, Daniel (Mya) Mendoza, Jessica Barboza, Alonso & Yadi Gaytan, Lillibeth, Alfredo Jr., Alberto, & Alejandro Muros, Angel (Daniela) Zuniga, Jose Caraves, Adrian Caraves, and 29 great grandchildren. Along with lots of friends & extended family, Frank Nino & Maria Trevino. and 2 brothers José Uñate of San Antonio, Tx, Heriberto Uñate of Ozona, Tx.

Ama will always be remembered for her love of cooking, kindness, and a big heart for always making sure no one ever left on an empty stomach. She enjoyed spending time with all of her loved ones & her pets her bird Pepe & her dogs Canela and Chiquita.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
