Maria Magdalena Vela Martinez

A life well lived came to an end. Maria Magdalena Vela Martinez, age 68, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Jennie Sealy Hospital. Maria was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico on January 22, 1956. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Martinez; her sisters Santos Vela Sandoval and Josefina Vela Sandoval; and her brothers Juan Vela Sandoval and Paulo Vela Sandoval. 

She is survived by her son Domingo Martinez; daughters Patricia Martinez, and Veronica Contreras and her husband Erly; grandchildren Gisselle Contreras, Martin Contreras, Gabriel Zapata and Abel Zapata; and her siblings, Rosalinda Salazar Vela, Maria Candelaria Vela Sandoval, Manuel Vela Sandoval, Salatiel “Lalo” Vela Sandoval, Francisco Vela Sandoval, Carlos Agustin Vela Sandoval, Maria del Pilar Vela Sandoval and Berenice Vela Sandoval; and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 10:00 A.M., with Reverend Manuel (Dillon) De La Cerda officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 9:00 A.M. 

Pallbearers will be Roberto Carreon, Gabriel Zapata, Camila Flores, Oscar Alverdin, Paulo Santiago, Roy Rodriguez and Erly Contreras.
