Margaret Ann Bunch passed away peacefully Saturday, July 18, 2026, following a brief illness.
Margaret was born October 17, 1943 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Dominican High School. She loved playing sports in school and often reminisced about her years playing volleyball.
She met the love of her life, Billy Bunch, while still in high school. They married at Sacred Heart Church in 1963, and shared a lifetime of love and devotion to each other. They were blessed with two children- William III and Jennifer. Family was the center of her life.
Margaret worked as a legal secretary most of her career, and then 12 years as executive assistant to the Galveston County Judge. She was known for her strong work ethic throughout her career, and made many lasting friendships.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William L. Bunch (Billy); her cherished daughter, Jennifer Ann O’Connell; and her parents, Viggo Jensen (Swede) and Mollie Rachel McKeown.
Margaret is lovingly survived by her son, William Bunch III (Billy) and his wife Sarah; grandchildren, Meghan O’Connell, Joseph O’Connell, Ansley Bunch, and Kelsey Bunch; and her sister, Barbara Hutchins.
She will also be greatly missed by her friends since high school and 50+ years Mahjong buddies- Ethel Jamison, Darnell Russo, and Linda Van Ness.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Wilson, Chris Lusby, Mike Grossman, and Chris Bentley.
Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering love of and devotion to her family, her lifelong friendships, her quiet strength, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Margaret’s family will receive visitors beginning at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 23rd at Sacred Heart Church located at 14th and Broadway, with a rosary beginning at 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 am, followed by a burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
