Israel Ochoa, Jr. Obituary

Israel Ochoa, Jr., age 75, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at Jennie Sealy Hospital with his loving wife Renee at his side. He was born to Israel and Consuelo Ochoa on April 10, 1948 in McAllen, Texas. He was transplanted to the Island as a toddler and considered himself a BOI. He attended Ball High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served his country proudly in Viet Nam. He received a Purple Heart and returned home a stronger man for having served his country. He was a member of the Corvette Club of Galveston, where he became a Corvette enthusiast. He married his first wife Lynda Bates and shortly later they had a baby girl they named Chastity. He opened his own paint and body shop in Galveston and as a Corvette enthusiast, he became a renowned Corvette paint and body specialist, who was sought out by numerous people from the West Coast. 

He met the love of his life, Renee, in 1985. They remained married for 24 years. They were husband and wife, best friends and soulmates. Israel faced many health challenges and he and Renee overcame them together. He fought the good fight until the Lord took him home. 

Israel was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law and friend. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Israel Sr and Consuelo Ochoa; his daughter Chastity Lynn; his grandmother Francisca Ochoa; and his brother-in-laws A.J. Rodriguez and Paul Horsten. 

He is survived by his wife Renee Ochoa; siblings: Belinda Rodriguez, Blanca (Blanche) Ramos, Velma Horsten, Gabriel Ochoa, Connie Ochoa, Isis Moreno (Louis) and Peter R. Ochoa Sr., (Gail); nieces and nephews: Melissa Alvarado, Alfredo Ramos, Jr., Lisa Duran (Jose), Rachel Ramos, Abel Torres (Amber), Anthony J. Rodriguez, Paul Gonzales, Peter R. Ochoa, Jr., J. Louis Moreno and Cameron Moreno; great-nieces and great-nephews: Rudy Ramos, Jacob Duran, Joey Duran, Abriana Torres and Cason Moreno.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, with Reverend Aaron Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Peter R. Ochoa, Sr., Gabriel Ochoa, Alfredo Ramos, Jr., Abel Torres, Peter R. Ochoa, Jr. and Benny J. Dafonte. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfredo Ramos, Sr., Sammy Flores and Johnny Dafonte.
