Henry Ayala Obituary

Henry Ayala, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 in Galveston, TX surrounded by his loving family. Henry was a BOI and loved the island. 

He was born on December 3, 1940 to Eulogio (Jessie) & Jesusa (Susie) Ayala.  He attended Kirwin High School on a football scholarship.  He served in the Army and was an honored sharp shooter and Golden Glove boxer. While working in Alaska, he became a member of the Arctic Polar Bear Club. 

Henry was an Electrician and member of the I.B.E.W. Local 527 for over 50 years. He was a mentor to many fellow Electricians and worked all over the world, doing what he loved. 

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. 

He retired in 2002 and started traveling with his wife of over 55 years.  They loved to cruise and see the wonders of new ports of call. 

Henry was a member of the Holy Family Parish and attended Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was married and baptized his sons. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Eulogio Jr. & Johnny Joe. 

He loved his family and is survived by his wife Juanita (Janie); sons Rick (Shane) and Mario (Leigh Ann); grandchildren, Blake Gonzales and his wife Krystal, Gabriela Ayala (Ricky Reyna), Alex Ayala, Chaz Gill, Kayla Gill (Justin Tavitas) and Ashlyn Gill; great-grandchildren, Dominic Gonzales, Ethan Gonzales, Silas Gonzales, Abel Gonzales, Lyla Rose Gonzales, Emery Tavitas and Greyson Tavitas; his brothers, Bobby Ayala, Xavier Ayala, Trinidad Ayala and sister Norma Roche and their spouses; and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers are Blake Gonzales, Alex Ayala, Ricky Reyna, Chaz Gill, Justin Tavitas and Jimmy De Los Santos.  

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with a Rosary to be held at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the IBEW Founders Scholarship. Paralyzed Veterans of America or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
