Harry Walker Abbott of Galveston, passed away on May 15, 2024 from complications of heart disease. Harry was born in Galveston on July 18, 1943, to Mary and Harry Abbott, Jr. His father Harry died of a stroke when he was 2 years old. Later stepfather Donny Trail entered his life.
Harry graduated from Kirwin High School and then studied and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Biology. Harry taught at Weiss Middle School and Ball High School for over 30 years. While at Sam Houston, he married the first love of his life, Jeanette. Jeanette passed in 2003 from Pancreatic Cancer.
After Jeanette’s death Harry fell in love and married the second true love of his life, long time friend Angie Termini. Angie was preceded in death by her husband Nick Termini. Angie and Harry enjoyed 19 years of marriage before Harry’s passing.
Harry enjoyed other activities in addition to his passion for teaching. He was a highly active member of Knights of Columbus Council 787. He served as Grand Knight for the 3rd Degree and Faithful Navigator for the 4th Degree. Later he was a founding member of Knights of Columbus Council 9978. He served as Grand Knight and was instrumental to the purchase and remodeling of Father Emil Hall. He enjoyed his many fraternal friendships over his life in the Knights.
Harry coached Little League baseball for over five years. He enjoyed giving back and being a mentor to his players. Harry enjoyed bowling for his Knights of Columbus team, traveling all over the state for tournaments. He enjoyed cheering for his Alma Mater Sam Houston and attended football games often. Harry is best known for his fanatical passion for the Dallas Cowboys. He was a season ticket holder for 19 years.
But most Harry enjoyed spending time with his many friends and his family. In addition to his wife Angie, he is survived by his two sons, Craig and wife Sherri and Stephen and wife Patti; his two stepdaughters Camille Loftin and husband Chris and Maryanne and her wife Lindsey White. Harry enjoyed his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Grandchildren included Reagan and wife Dallas, Austin and girlfriend Lisa Longo, Kaden, Alexandra Sharp and husband Sam, Katie Ramon and husband Kyle, Taylor Guzman, and Christian Loftin and wife Shelby. Great Grand Children include Abilene, Liam, Emery, Sawyer, Sammi, and Brooks. He was preceded in death by his cat and best friend of 21 years TC. In addition, he is survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at J Levy and Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway, Galveston Texas, with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Deacon Robert Standridge officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Austin Abbott, Reagan Abbott, Kaden Abbott, Christian Loftin, Sammy Arcidiacono and Brett Morris.
