Gloria Lee Dent

Gloria Lee Dent, 88, of Galveston, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 16, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, Gloria was the cherished daughter of Walter and Dora Szajna. 

Gloria married her high school sweetheart, William "Bill" Dent, on November 23, 1955. As a devoted Army wife for 22 years, Gloria dedicated herself to nurturing their three children while supporting Bill through his military career. Their two tours in Germany were among Gloria's favorites where they spent much time taking in all the sites that Europe had to offer. After Bill's military retirement, the family settled in Galveston, where Bill began his second career with American National Insurance Company. 

Following Bill’s final retirement, Gloria and Bill embraced a new adventure as full-time RV travelers. Gloria loved this chapter of her life, meeting new people, forging lifelong friendships, and reconnecting with friends and relatives across the country. These journeys allowed them to see this great country that Bill served. 

When Bill was called to be with the Lord in 2005, Gloria found comfort in her home in Santa Fe, Texas. She immersed herself in crafting, creating beautiful crochet blankets, delicate doilies, warm scarves, and stunning quilts. She enjoyed her weekly ladies church group and her book club friends immensely. During this time, she adopted a beloved dog named Molly, who became her constant companion and cherished friend.   

Gloria frequently visited Galveston for family celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, and holidays, treasuring every moment with her daughter Patty and her family. She also spent cherished time in Henderson, Nevada, with her youngest son, Keith, who remained her "baby" in her heart, no matter his age. 

Gloria’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family will always remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her children: William J. Dent; Keith P. Dent and wife Maria; and Patricia L. "Patty" Healy and husband Keven. She was a proud grandmother to Matthew; Marc and wife Brianna; Mason Healy; Lauren Klingele and husband Adam; and Tanner Dent and wife Verjinia. Gloria was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Chase Klingele; Elena and Kalina Dent; and Lorae, Lynnleigh, and Lilah Healy. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway, Galveston, Texas, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. 

Gloria Lee Dent will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
