Gilbert George Fletcher, age 75, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital. He was born on August 20, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965. After graduation, he attended Penn State University. He was retired from National Car Company after almost 30 years of service, where he was nicknamed “Global Gil” because of his extensive traveling. Throughout he and Carol’s 40 years of marriage, they ministered to the youth of various churches, as well as serving in Marriage Encounter. After retiring, he worked for Experience Engineering out of Minneapolis, Minnesota for 5 years. After leaving Experience Engineering, he and Carol traveled the country in their RV ministering to small churches.
He is survived by his wife Carol Fletcher; children Glenn Fletcher and wife Amy, Kimberly Leszczynski and husband Brian, Adam Fletcher and wife Maria, Lacey Fletcher, and Thomas Fletcher and wife Jennifer; and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, 822 23rd Street, Galveston, Texas 77550, with Brother Eric Hodge officiating.
