Franklin “Frank” Everett Sager
Franklin Everett Sager passed away August 2021 at the age of 65. He was the son of the late Ronald Sager (Nilda) and Evelyn Sandusky (N. E. Sandusky). Frank is survived by his daughter Rae Kalupa Sager and by the mother of his daughter, Valerie Kalupa. Dear brother of Michael Dolan (Anita), Cathie Dolan Smith (David), Rhonda Rose (David, deceased), Kelsey Muth (James), Preston Sandusky (Kate), Stacey Lapham (Chris), Maria Santiago (Carlos), Roberto Sager (Marie Anne), Aida Sager and many nieces and nephews.
Frank was born in Gary, Indiana September 16, 1955. He spent his youth in Vallejo, California where he graduated from Hogan High school in 1974. Frank worked in the commercial fishing industry as an urchin diver in Santa Barbara, CA. He did research diving and participated in the construction and maintenance of kelp farms at Caltech’s Kerckhoff Marine Lab in Corona del Mar. Frank met Valerie in Santa Barbara and they married in 1981. Frank worked for Oceaneering International Inc. in Louisiana and California as a diver and later operated ROVs and submersibles for Oceaneering’s Oil and Gas Division. Later in his career, Frank received a degree in Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara after which he and Valerie moved to Houston in 1991 where their daughter Rae was born. Frank worked for Oceaneering Space Systems and was Program Manager for NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory and SVMF.
Frank was an inventor. He designed and created a piezoelectric pump while in college and worked to obtain several patents for the pump and its fabrication method.
Frank also loved his Dobro guitar and enjoyed playing Beatles songs or just getting lost in the music.
He was a loving father, brother and uncle, a mentor and friend to many.
A memorial service will be held at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 P.M., with Reverend Karl Newmann officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held in California at a later date.
