Christina Maria Gutierrez Ybarra, of Galveston, Texas died on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 surrounded by her family at the age of 80. Christina was born in Galveston on December 25, 1944. She was a resident of Alvin, Hitchcock, and Texas City, Texas throughout her lifetime.
Christina was married for 33 years to her husband Gregorio Ybarra Sr. They separated and divorced in 1997.
Christina was a kind hearted person helping everyone she met. Knowing her was a blessing. She enjoyed walking around Galveston in her free time. She'd visit her family and friends no matter the distance. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandkids.
Christina was a homemaker for many years. She later volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School where her children attended. She worked at UTMB as a housekeeper for some time. In her later years she found work at Walmart in Texas City.
Christina had many hobbies. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, making jewelry, and her favorite thing was collecting movies. She loved a good story.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Carmen Chavez, Father, Jose Gutierrez Sr, and her husband Gregorio Ybarra Sr.
She is survived by her brother Gerard Chavez and his wife Olivia Chavez of Galveston, Texas; her brothers, Larry Gutierrez, Robert Gutierrez and Jose Angel Gutierrez Jr; her children, Holly Ybarra Browning of Galveston, Texas, Greg Ybarra Jr. of Galveston, TX, Beth Ybarra Bryan and Jason, of Texas City, Blanca Ybarra Day, of Galveston TX and Zachary Ybarra, of Galveston, TX.
Christina had 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Christina was loved deeply by her family and friends. She will be missed by all. May she rest in peace with her eternal Father in Heaven.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 2 pm at J Levy & Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway Avenue J in Galveston, TX. On Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 1 pm, a placing of remains will be held at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
