Charles Edward Dickerson, 84, went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2023, from his home in Galveston. Charlie was born on October 13, 1938, in Patterson, Louisiana, and moved to Galveston with his family three years later. Charlie attended Galveston’s Central High School, spent two years in the Coast Guard and then worked at the Moody Compress for several years. He then moved to UTMB where he maintained the Grounds for over 20 years.
Charlie is preceded in death by his son, Charles Anthony Dickerson; father Samuel Dickerson, Sr.; mother Julia J. Gims Dickerson; brothers Hakeem Akbar and Clifton Dickerson; sisters Norma Dickerson Mitchell and Helen Dickerson Brashear. He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Theresa Garcia Dickerson, who loved him so, so much; daughters Veronica Dickerson and Lisa Dickerson; sisters Annie Laurie Dickerson Robinson and Dorothy Dickerson Henderson; and numerous grandchildren. He also leaves behind his fur baby Chelbri Dickerson whom he loved and adored. Charlie was a God fearing wonderful man, loved by many and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at J. Levy and Termini Funeral Home. Interment will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, with Deacon Robert Standridge officiating.
