Charles Butler Obituary

Charles John (C.J.) Butler went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday May 26th 2015.  He was born on February 17th 1929 in Galveston, TX and was a lifelong resident of the Island.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served in the United States Marine Corps. During World War II.

C.J. was a member of The Elks Lodge #126 for 54 years and held the position of State President from 1979-1980 and served 7 times as Exalted Ruler.  An avid fisherman, he especially enjoyed fishing with his family and friends during the annual fall flounder run at the Galveston Yacht Basin.  Along with fishing, he also enjoyed watching his grandchildren during their many sporting events, and barbecuing or cooking Italian cuisines.

He is preceded in death by his mother Josephine Butler, sons Charles, Michael, and Ronald; three brothers and a sister.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty Lou, daughters Diane Callahan (Ronnie) and Joanne Lackey (Kase); ten grandchildren including his sidekick Katy, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

As per his wishes his remains are to be cremated and a celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
