Carmen Marquez de Hernandez

Carmen Marquez de Hernandez at age 87, gained her wings Sunday, January 15, 2023, in her Galveston Island home. She was born on August 17, 1935, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. 

She is preceded by her mother and father Julian Marquez & Feliciana Morales de Marquez; brothers and sisters include Julio Morales, Antonio Marquez, Federico Marquez, Maria Marquez, Pepe Jose Marquez, Aurelia Flores and Maria Elena Marquez. She is survived by her sons and daughters Rosa Maria Mora and husband Roland J. Mora Sr., Natalia Moncada, Bertha Molina, Julio Mendoza, and Jorge Marquez and wife Delia Marquez; Grandchildren Yesenia Mora, Roland J Mora Jr, Kristi Gonzalez, Jessica Moncada Bravo, Jose Luis Molina, Topazio Molina, Lorenzo Molina Jr., Rogelio Molina, Remplis Molina, Adam Gonzales, Bobby Mendoza, Julian Mendoza, Elizabeth Mendoza, Francisco Mendoza, Luis Mendoza, George Marquez Jr, Mia Marquez, Isabella Marquez; 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. 

She lived in Galveston for 35 years and helped raise her grandchildren. Carmen enjoyed cooking, cleaning, ironing, and loving on those around her. Feeding those that would visit was her way of showing her love. 

Carmen had no need to work. She was well taken care of by her daughter Rosa Maria Mora and her amazing son in law Roland J. Mora Sr. 

She had a love for coffee, would read her prayer book every day and all day. She also enjoyed watching old movies and singing to songs of her generation. 

Carmen spent her last days surrounded by all her children and grandchildren. We will continue to pray for her as she always prayed for us. 

Visitation will be held at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., with a Rosary to begin 6:30 P.M.  A memorial service will follow the Rosary.  Deacon John Carrillo will be officiating the services. Interment will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, with Deacon John Carrillo officiating.
