Brett Andrew Brannen, age 59, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Jennie Sealy Hospital. He was a proud BOI, born on the Island on January 4, 1963. He graduated from Ball High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. After college he went to work for Del Papa Distributing Company for over 30 years. Some of his many passions were playing with his dogs, going fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys play football and watching NASCAR racing. Being a proud BOI, he also loved riding his bicycle on the seawall. However, his greatest passion was spending time with his family. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Angelene Brannen; aunts, Ethel Mae Kovacevich, Helen Kovacevich, Mildred Hollon, Marie Tyler and Annace Stasny; and uncles, Weldon Kovacevich, George Kovacevich, Nick Kovacevich and Blago Kovacevich.
He is survived by his daughter Sarah Brannen; brother Donnie Brannen and fiancé Ann Papes; nephew Nick Brannen and wife Kelly; niece Madison Brannen; great nephews Parker Brannen and Carter Brannen; aunt Johanna Kovacevich; uncle Forrest Hollon; mother of his daughter Brenda Brannen; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., with a Pomen Service to begin at 6:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Saints Constantine and Helen Serbian Orthodox Church, 4109 Avenue L, Galveston, Texas 77550, with Father Thomas Colyandro officiating. Interment will follow at the Serbian Orthodox Cemetery on 61st Street in Galveston, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Nick Brannen, Richard Garza, Jorge Guerrero, Trinidad Hernandez, Sergio Trevino and Allen Tyler, III.
