Ann Cuthbertson Miller died in League City, Texas on February 5, 2018 at the age of 83.

Ann was born on July 18, 1934 in Overton, Texas. She was a 1952 graduate of Yazoo City High School. She graduated from Bowling Green Business College, now Western Kentucky University, in 1956 with an associate’s degree in Business. She married James Newell Miller in 1957, and the couple lived in Oxford, Mississippi, before moving to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1960.

Ann was a masterful hostess and often presided over friend and family gatherings. She was known for her generosity as well as her love and deep care for others. She was passionate about creating an atmosphere where others felt accepted and appreciated. Above all, she was dedicated to her family and close friends, and went out of her way to make the favorite foods of everyone she loved. This was perhaps never demonstrated more than at family gatherings and during her bridge and supper clubs, in which she participated for many years. Ann was, and forever will be, lovingly known as “Ma” by her eight grandchildren and her great-grandson. Her family and friends will remember her for her sharp intelligence and how the room would ring with the sound of her contagious laughter.

Ann is survived by her husband, James Newell Miller, formerly of Baton Rouge,Louisiana, and current resident of Galveston,Texas; sister, Ellen Cuthbertson Campbell of Baton Rouge,Louisiana; children, Sally Miller Byrom and husband, James Edwards Byrom of Galveston,Texas; James Newell Miller, Jr. and wife Shawn Taylor Miller of Gonzales,Louisiana; John Clyde Miller and wife Graham Wetherbee Miller of Baton Rouge,Louisiana; grandchildren, Annie Byrom Blancken and husband Mark Alan Blancken, Jack Edwards Byrom, Ellen Elizabeth Byrom, Taylor Wells Miller, Hayden James Miller and wife Michelle Laney Miller, Mary Madalyn Miller, John Clyde Miller, Jr., Margaret Ann Miller; and great-grandson, Jackson Mark Blancken.
