Captain Robert W. Armstrong (85) of Galveston, passed away Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 at Gulf Health Care with his wife by his side. Robert was born December 18th,1931, in Boston Massachusetts, as a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James R. Armstrong.

Robert was a graduate of United States Merchant Marine Academy of Kings Point, N.Y, and a retired professor of the Galveston Texas A&M University. Robert enjoyed teaching his students whom voluntarily made a visit to see him in his last days on earth. Robert was affiliated with Holy Family Parish and was known as a dedicated and faithful Catholic. He was an exquisite, loving, humorous, humble, and caring man; and a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife Paulette Armstrong, a companion of 33 years; children: Kathleen Armstrong and husband Dennis Clark, Karen Armstrong, Karolyn “Cookie” Fabain and husband Russell Fabian; step-children Christine Haas (Jose Arreola), Thomas Haas and
wife June Haas, James Haas and wife Vicky Haas; grandchildren: Freddy Pompa, Shanna Holliday, William Arreola, Margie Arreola, Kristopher Pompa, Miguel Pompa and wife Sarah Pompa, Tori Fabain, Ashley Fabain, Jose Arreola and wife Jehovanissi Arreola, Meredith Haas, Max Haas, Savannah Haas, Sydney Haas; and great grandchildren Julia Arreola, Phoenix Bacon, Avery Pompa, Gracie Pompa, Sophia Pompa, and Leila Pompa.

He is preceded in death by his late wife Mertie Armstrong and daughter Kristine Pompa- husband Miguel Pompa.

We will gather Friday, December 22nd, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 1010 35th St. Galveston TX. Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary to begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Father Jude Ezuma.
