Alberto Garcia, age 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born in San Benito, Texas on March 17, 1931. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked hard his whole life, being employed by both Todd Shipyard and the City of Galveston for numerous years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Estella Garcia; children: Angela Braun, Lorraine Garcia, Rose Garcia, Albert Garcia, Monica Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Anthony Garcia and Alexander Garcia; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Marion Gonzales and Helen Lozano; and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 9:00 A.M, with a Rosary to begin at 9:30 A.M., with Deacon Robert Standridge officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will follow the Rosary beginning at 10:00 A.M., with Father Orrin Halepeska officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family members.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Elysian Hospice and caregivers, Laura, Kiara, Damaris, Ruth, and Debra for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
