Laura Rau Bogenski, age 100, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She was born in Galveston, Texas on July 26, 1917. She was a 1935 graduate of Galveston Ball High School, after which she worked in the petrochemical industry in Texas City, Texas until her retirement in the mid 1970’s. Her husband, John Edward Bogenski, predeceased her in 1990. She was a lifelong resident of Galveston until Hurricane Ike destroyed her home, and she relocated to Houston, Texas in 2010. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Mispah Chapter for over 50 years and the Daughters of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis Chapter. She also attended Moody Memorial United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her nephew, Harry Rau Johnston of Galveston, her niece, Susan Johnston Stone and husband Bill of Houston, and great-niece Jessica Jade Johnston of Victoria. She is further survived by her step-grandchildren, Caren Broome Nelson, Paula Rupert and Brenda Broome West.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 10 A.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, with Reverend Raymond Pinard officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Moody Memorial United Methodist Church, 2803 53rd Street, Galveston, Texas 77551 or the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, 815 Market Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.
