Carl J. Mileski age 88, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on October 26, 1928 on Staten Island, New York. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School and Wagner College. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Massey during the Korean War. He was an executive with Caltex (Chevron) for 35 years spending part of his career overseas in Bahrain. He travelled extensively with his career and with his family. In his travels he made many friends across the globe. Before coming to Texas he lived in Ridgewood, New Jersey and before coming to Galveston he lived in Richardson, Texas.
Carl volunteered extensively for the Roman Catholic Church. He was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and he played a major role in the defeat of the Blaine Amendment. He was also president of his parish’s Ecumenical Council.
He is preceded in death by his son John, his sister Sabina and his brothers, John and Sam.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen; his devoted children, daughter Mary Ellen Mazza and her husband Michael; daughter Patricia Bryck and her husband Steven; and son William Mileski and his wife Joan; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Galveston at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. The family wishes in lieu of flowers donations be made to Holy Family Parish, 1010 35th Street, Galveston, Texas 77550.
