Moses S. Medina, Sr.

January 11, 1937— May 15, 2014




Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M, with a Vigil to begin at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, with Deacon Henry Herrera officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.


Moses S. Medina, Sr., age 77, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1937 in Galveston, Texas. He was retired from the City of Galveston after 21 years of service. He was a dedicated and die-hard Dallas Cowboy football fan.

He was preceded in death by sons Joe David Medina and Edward D. Hawkins; daughter Helena Hawkins; sisters Isaura Quintero and Susie Quintero.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elva Medina; children Seferina Medina and husband Joe, Moses Medina, Jr. and wife Judy, Celia Montalvo and husband Marco, Delia Hernandez and husband Lawrence, Evangline Loera and husband Juan, and George Hawkins and wife Cora; sister Romana Diaz; brother Edward Quintero, Sr. and wife Janie; sister-in-law Vangie Vassallo and Fernando Urias; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joe Medina, Chris Medina, Anthony Medina, Moses Medina, III, Marco A. Montalvo, Jr. and Adam A. Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert M. Medina, Julian Hawkins, Daniel Reyna, III and Edgardo Salinas.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice Care Team and the Physicians and Staff at UTMB 3rd Floor Oncology, for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
