Josephine Dantin Ritter

There will be a gathering for visitation on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway, Galveston, Texas. Josephine's family extends an invitation and welcome to all those wanting to attend.

Josephine Dantin Ritter, 85, of San Leon, Texas, the wonderful lady that passed away on Easter Sunday, was known by numerous names to her family and friends. Many knew her as Mrs. Josephine Ritter, Josephine, Jo, Mom or Grandma Jo. Being married to Charles (Charlie) Ritter, before his passing, would prove to be a long and exciting chapter in her life that would span over a half century. Her life revolved around race cars, raising children, shrimp boats and even an Ice House/Bait Camp. Josephine's character was one of wonder and her caring for others unyielding. All those who had the opportunity to know her were that much better for it, because listening to her stories tended to read like a novel. Josephine was loved by so many and she will be greatly missed. She developed a fondness for anything to do with Roosters and her home is a testament to those things she enjoyed most.

Josephine's legacy will live on through her siblings, Ollie Dantin, Trish Ryan and husband Duke, and James Dantin and wife Carol, her children Anne Burt, Sandra Heard and husband Cullum, Judy Hood and husband Gary, Alice Mensing and husband Michael and son Charles Ritter, III (deceased) and wife Debbie, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and even a great-great grandchild on the way. We will all carry with us our own "Special" moments and stories that we can reflect on in the years to come. The Lord, Our Father, chose to take our beloved Josephine (Grandma Jo) into His loving arms so that she could be at peace on this day of days, giving comfort to her loved ones.
