Monty Estrada Siller was taken to be with the Lord on January 9 2017. She was born on October 26, 1926, in Galveston Texas to Maria and Narciso Vallet Estrada originally of Barcelona Spain. She had 11 brothers and sisters who she loved dearly and kept in contact with through out her life.

She attended an all girl Catholic high school, Ursuline Academy where she graduated valedictorian. After high school she attended Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio for one year and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin for three years where she graduated with a BBA.

She married the love of her life Lawrence Siller on September 15, 1954 . Together they had four sons: Larry Siller a real estate developer, Gary Siller an Attorney with the law firm of Strasburger & Price in Houston, Barry Siller a Gyn Oncologist practicing at Memorial City Hospital in Houston and Terry Siller, an Orthopedic Surgeon practicing in Texas City.
Lawrence died on November 28, 1990.

After her husband’s death Monty remained active in a variety of Civic and charity endeavors, including Meals on Wheels and serving as a Eucharistic minister at her Church. Monty also had many friends and regularly played tennis during her life. She was also a member of a bridge and Mahjong club. Monty loved to travel and visited many interesting places around the world.

She was also a very devoted Catholic; her faith was always of upmost importance to her. But most of all she loved her family. She dedicated her life to being a good wife, mother and grandmother.

She was one of the kindest people whoever walked this earth. She never said no to anyone in need. She owned several rent houses but seldom collected rent because she felt her tenants were too poor to pay.

Monty lived a long and wonderful life and passed peacefully to the next world. All who knew her, especially her family, will miss her dearly.

Monty was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Narciso Vallet Estrada; her husband Lawrence Siller, her siblings and their spouses: Dolores and Mike Minoia, Nuria and George Burress, Charles and Gisella Estrada, Albert and Carolyn Estrada, William Estrada, Mary Carmen Estrada; and her granddaughter, Clara Mary Siller.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Kathy, Gary and Sandy, Barry and Anne, Terry and Cathy; her grandchildren: Christina, James, Ryan, Chance, Jennifer, Aubrey, Alexandra, Parker, Carlisle, Illiana, Kelom; and her siblings and their spouses, George and Donna Estrada, Pilar Shankle, Mary Rose Estrada, Josephine Estrada, and Maria and Bob Winn, her sister-in-law, Olivia Estrada, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, with Father E.J. Stein officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass, beginning at 9:00 A.M.

The family deeply appreciates the compassion and care given by her caretakers Annie, Dominique, Etta and Syretta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, restoration of St. Mary’s Cathedral, or the charity of your choice.
