Rosa Cavazos Hernandez, 89, of Galveston, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 17, 2016. Mrs. Hernandez was born on Christmas Eve December 24, 1926 to Rosa and Daniel Cavazos. She was a beloved wife to Guillermo Hernandez, and mother of three beautiful children Vivian, William, and Dolores. She was a devoted Catholic, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, and great-great grandmother. As a part of her faith and family commitment, she participated in the Damas de Guadalupe, bible study, P.T.O, and hosted Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day Celebrations. She was proud to be a part of the Hispanic Ministry at Sacred Heart Church in Galveston, Texas.
She attended Ursuline Academy, and graduated from Metropolitan Cosmetology School. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent in her honor for scholarship recipients. She is proceeded by her parents, Rosa and Daniel Cavazos; husband, Guillermo Hernandez; son, William Anthony Hernandez, Sr.; grand-children, Dina Marie Wyatt and William R. Ferino.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel Cavazos, children Vivian and Mike Hernandez – Kleinschmidt, Dolores and John Hix, Rosie and George Wyatt. Grandchildren: Letitia Villarreal, William Anthony Hernandez, Jr. Richard Ferino, Dominic J. Hix, Sr., Aaron J. Hix, Michelle Hix, and Dana Wyatt. Great-grandchildren: William Anthony Hernandez, III, Joe Rey Santos, Christian Hix, Dominic Hix, Jr., Donovan Hix, Belen Hix, Sofia C. Villarreal, Arturo Villarreal, IV, Maximiliano Villarreal, Roman Guillermo Villarreal, Hanna Ferino, Haili Ferino, Aries Ferino, Dina Marie Wyatt, and Maya Edith Hix. Great-grandson: Liam J. Hix.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a vigil at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The burial will follow the funeral Mass at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.
