Lily Mae Taormina, age 93, left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 29, 2016. She was born on April 10, 1922 in Garyville, Louisiana. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She went to real estate school as well as income tax school, and worked for H & R Block for several years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her son-in-law Robert Goerlich; father-in-law and mother-in-law Vincent and Frances Taormina; parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; 7 sister-in-laws; 7 brother-in-laws; 2 nieces and 4 nephews. 

She is survived by her husband of 73 years Charles V. Taormina, Sr.; daughter Ellen Goerlich and friend Tom Verkin; brother Ralph Schexnayder and wife Phyllis; granddaughter Candace Goerlich and husband Mark Thomas, grandson Christopher Goerlich and wife Mari; great grandchildren Madeleine Thomas, Cohen Goerlich, Noah Goerlich, Finn Goerlich and Sophia Goerlich; sister-in-laws Margaret Tramonte and Rose O’Rourke; nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway, Galveston, Texas 77550, with Father E.J. Stein officiating.  Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Pallbearers will be Benny Holland, Gary Summerville, Tom Summerville, V.J. Tramonte, Tra Tramonte, Dr. Howard Dillard and Redus Day.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hallmark Hospice, 1120 Nasa Parkway, Houston, Texas 77058 or the charity of one’s choice. 

She will be celebrating her birthday in Heaven with her nephew Lloyd O’Rourke and son-in-law Robert Goerlich, whom were all born on April 10.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Tonni, Donna, Mrs. Mack and Rosalind for their kindness and loving care.
