Ida Jo Morse, age 75, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 18, 1941 in Galveston, Texas to David and Jenny Tabaracci.

Ida Jo attended Ursuline Academy and graduated from Sacred Heart Dominican College, with a major in Italian and a minor in English. She taught kindergarten at Sacred Heart Elementary School and third grade at St. Patrick’s Elementary School, both in Galveston. She was on the Lady Board of Managers of Galveston Children’s Home, and dearly enjoyed spending time with the children in the orphanage. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Galveston County, and was named Sustainer of The Year in 1998-1999. Ida Jo was a founding member of Krewe of Gambrinus, formally known as The Krewe of Brew. She also spearheaded the funding initiative for stained glass windows at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Galveston.

Ida Jo married her husband, Eugene, at St Patrick Catholic Church on January 31, 1965. She shared her faith as a Eucharistic Minister, first at St. Mary’s Hospital and then at John Sealy Hospital. She enjoyed playing Mah Jongg on Mondays, as well as spending time with her friends and helping those in need. Ida Jo had a very generous, kind, and loving heart, and always went above and beyond for the many people she loved. She would always say, “We will do the best we can.”

Preceded in death by her parents, Ida Jo is survived by her husband of 51 years, Eugene T. Morse, Jr.; daughter Brook Morse; brother David Tabaracci, Jr. and wife Maria; sister Jenny Micheletti; and honorary extended family, Johanna Kovacevich, Craig Kovacevich and wife Marjorie, and Andrea Sunseri and husband Carroll.

With a grateful heart, the family acknowledges Craig and Marjorie Kovacevich, Maria and David Tabaracci, and Andrea Sunseri for their help and support during Ida Jo’s final days. They also extend a special thank you to the A*Med Hospice Care Team for their compassion and exceptional care.

The family will receive visitors at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1010 35th Street, in Galveston from 9-10am on Monday, December 19, 2016, with a Rosary beginning at 10a.m, immediately followed by a funeral mass. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Gulf Coast Region, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257-0127, or the charity of your choice.
