Elmer was born in Independence, Texas on January 14th, 1933, and moved to Galveston when he was 10 years old, soon after the hurricane of 1943. He was a route salesman for many years, delivering bread to local businesses in and around Galveston for Sunbeam and Rainbow Bread Companies. He enjoyed 21 years of retirement, loved feeding his birds and squirrels, but what he enjoyed most of all, was taking care of his canine companion, Dagney.
Elmer is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patsy, his son Patrick, sisters Virginia Muehlberger and Dorothy and husband Jim Sanders, and his brother, Reverend Milton Muehlberger and wife Donna, and sisters-in-law Joan and Terry Muehlberger.
He is survived by his son Michael and wife Lisa, sister Joyce Lidiac and husband Max, brothers Howard and wife Lydia, Floyd and wife Linda, and Wayne Muehlberger, and brother-in-law Harry Hendry and wife Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8th 2016 at J. Levy and Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. On Saturday, July 9th 2016, the funeral procession will depart at 10:00 a.m. from J. Levy and Termini Funeral Home for a graveside service to be held at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas. Deacon Robert Standridge will be officiating.
