Daisy Bissett, age 87, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Meridian in Galveston, Texas. She was born on December 20, 1928 in Chambers County, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Durward Bissett, and her son Danny Lee Harris.
She is survived by her son, Donald James Bissett, and his wife, Marita Bledsoe of Eagle, Colorado, granddaughter Betsy Bissett and grandson Joshua James Bissett, great grandson, Aidan Smith, sisters Mary Beard of Beaumont and Jean Garcia-Cardenas of Galveston and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daisy was a member of Moody Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Dilley, Texas. She and Durward were married in the parsonage of that church by Rev. Lewis Stuckey on July 25, 1950. Later she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Kenedy, Texas and the First Baptist Church of Rockport, Texas. While living in Rockport she was a member of the American Cancer Society and drove many patients to treatment in Corpus Christi.
She loved playing 42 and Bridge with friends. While living in Kenedy she was a leader of the local chapter of the Eastern Star. She loved to talk at length about her family and to laugh at every opportunity.
Her memorial service will be Saturday, April 16, 2016, 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Meridian in Galveston, Texas with Rev. Raymond Pinard officiating.
