Cruz Ojeda III, age "58" was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on October 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving Family.

Born February 19, 1958 in Galveston, Texas, he is preceded in death by his Father, Step-father, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and two nephews.

He is survived by his Mother Mary Diaz, his Uncles Benny, Lalo and Jesse Ojeda, Aunt Molly (Ojeda) Garcia; devoted cherished friends R. Garcia and Margie Chavarria; sisters: Belinda Zepeda (Lawrence), Ellie Morales (John), Penny Perez all of Galveston and Carmen Gomez (Edward) of Austin, Texas; children: Fidel C. Ojeda (Marisa), Miguel V. Ojeda (Krystal) and daughter Lauren A. Ojeda; loyal friends & Mother of his sons Diana Patina-Ashton and Mother of his daughter Theresa Hernandez; Goddaughter: Kristy A. Mejia and Gabriela A. Zepeda.

He had a special bond with a considerable impact with his nephew Lawrence H. Zepeda II; along with individual aspires, a role model to many, with his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and especially Jared Hernandez.

Cruz is a loving and devoted Grandfather to: Fidel C. Ojeda Jr, Samantha Ojeda, Raquel Rodriguez, Carlos Alcocer, Mariah Smith and Brandon Colin Cruz Ojeda.

As a young man Cruz became a member of the Boys Club in the old neighborhood of the Magnolia Homes. He received an award for "Boy of the Year!" As a young man he became a mentor to his peers and to the other members of the Boys Club.

Cruz attended Ball High School, active in ROTC through-out his years and graduate of Class of 1976.

Cruz was a remarkable hard working worker for the Gerlands Food Fair starting in 1975 and his career there lasted over 25 years. His supervisor role, work ethic and mentoring with all made an impact.

Cruz was an active volunteer of the Ronald McDonald House at Galveston for twelve years. He was honored for his continued incredible volunteer services and named an outstanding volunteer and giving a Proclamation date plaque for his devoted years of service on Nov. 30, 2012. He was well liked and appreciated by the children, families and staff.

Cruz was an avid to all Texas sports and enjoyed watching them with his sons, daughter and nephews.

Cruz was one of the Co-founders of the Galveston area Cancer Crusher support group where he met many people and built lifelong relationships. They were able to embrace, share their own stories and journeys along with consoling each other. Many Thanks for your time and efforts Cancer Crusher!!!

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Maurice Willis for his care through-out his illness, A-Med Nurses: Melanie Cuyos, Kim Clark, Kim Hunter, Ron Eaves and Gwen Madison for their loving care and support.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 7:00 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Angel officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 5:00 P.M.

Cruz is and will always be our ‘Warrior” who will be deeply missed by all, he touched many hearts just with his smile but his strength alone was enough. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
