Carolyn Grossman Ford, age 80, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at her residence with her family at her side. She was born in Galveston, Texas on January 18, 1936. She graduated from her beloved Ursuline Academy in 1953. She worked at Galveston Catholic School and Trinity Episcopal School until her retirement in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her father Ernest H. Grossman and mother Mary Elizabeth (Carraher) Grossman.

She is survived by her husband Robert E. Ford, whom she married on December 1, 1956; daughters Stephanie Conti and husband Nat, Jennifer Gerondale and husband Jimmy; sons Robert Owen Ford and wife Pam, and Kirk Ford and wife Leti; grandchildren: Christopher Ford, Charles Ford, Colton Ford, Natalie Conti Solomon (Mike), Sara Conti, Elizabeth Ford, Michael Ford, Stephen Gerondale (Casey) and Kyle Gerondale; great-grandchildren: Jaxson, Harper and Scout Solomon and Jacob Gerondale; sister-in-law Dorothy Kitkoski; and life-long friends Norma Alderman and Peggy Dallas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father E.J. Stein officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will also be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Stephen, Christopher, Charles, Kyle, Michael and Colton. Honorary pallbearers will be Nat Conti, Jimmy Gerondale and Michael Solomon.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the following for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time: A-Med Hospice, Caregiver Reba Broussard and Elena Howard, RN.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn’s wish is that donations be made to the Galveston Island Humane Society, 6814 Broadway, Galveston, Texas 77554.
