Jesse Alcala Ramirez, 86, of Galveston Texas passed away surrounded by his family on July 17, 2015. Jesse was born on August 1, 1928 to Mercedes Alcala and Rudolpho Ramirez. He graduated from Kirwin High School Class of 1947. Jesse retired from the Port of Galveston as Security Guard. He served in the US Air Force during WWII, stationed in Japan. Jesse was a member of St. Mary’s Church where he ushered for many years. He was a member of the Galveston Lions Club; 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus 787; Member of the Woodman of the World, Elks Lodge 126, life member of VFW 880; The Oleander Society, The Niiagata/Galveston Sister City Organization, and member of Hospice Care Team. Jesse delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and made many friends. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. 

Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Lucy Ramirez; Children Cynthia Maldonado (Eddy) of Longview and their children Jason Maldonado (Miranda) of Houston, Tiffany Knox (Jeff) of Richardson, and Leslie Paramore (Jordan) of Tyler; Robert Parra (Dianne) of Houston; Joseph Estrada (Hope) of Houston; Daughter in Law Susan Estrada of Magnolia and children Amanda Williams (Michael) of Houston, Alyssa Estrada of New York and Abby Estrada of Austin; Ed Ramirez (Yolanda) and their children Samantha and Alex Ramirez all of Houston; Roger Ramirez of Sacramento, CA; Sonya Garza (Richard) and their children Anjelica and Richard X. Garza of Galveston; Natalie Moya (Dennis) of Pearland. Jesse is survived by 5 Great Grandchildren. Jesse is also survived by Sister-in-laws, Gloria Mendoza, Dolores Mendoza, Dolores Woodward and Margaret Ramirez; brother-in-laws, Tony Mendoza(Vera) and Ralph Mendoza(Rachel); and special family friend Jean Cardenas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael Estrada; brothers Rudy, Edmund, Edward and John Ramirez and sister Mary Helm.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at St. Mary’s Cathedral starting at 10:00 am, with Father Richard Goodin officiating. Interment will follow at the Oleander Cemetery on Broadway.

Pallbearers are Robert Parra, Joseph Estrada, Ed Ramirez, Eddy Maldonado, Richard Garza and Dennis Moya. Honorary pallbearers will be Reverend Raymond Pinard, Foster Spurlock, Santiago Rodriguez, Jason Maldonado and Ricky Garza.

Special thanks to the UTMB NICU Staff and the ACE Unit 10C. Especially UTMB staff members Annette De la Santos, Cleo, Melinda, Phillis and Brian Mendoza.
