Anita Saragosa was born on July 25, 1919 in St. Catarina, Mexico to Sabas Saragosa and Virginia Lopez. She left this earth on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the age of 95 years to her final home with her Heavenly Father whom she loved and worshipped every day of her life. Her love for Him extended in caring for those less fortunate than her and most especially for the infirmed. She never asked for anything for herself but rather loved and cared for others. She never complained. Anita helped her sisters in every way when needed. She was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews. She was at their sides during their growing years and as adults. Her constant prayers and novenas for her family and friends have been realized in our day to day lives.

She was one of four children. She and her two sisters were orphaned at a young age and lived at the former St. Mary’s Catholic Orphanage in Galveston.

She is survived by two sisters, Felicitas Cermeno from Hitchcock, Texas and Herlinda Saenz from Pearland, Texas; and nieces and nephews. Anita lost her only brother, James Saragoza, in the Texas City explosion of 1947.

Anita never married or had children-but rejoiced in the love and affection of her sisters, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. We will all miss “Tia Anie” dearly.
