On Tuesday, June 16, 2015, Albert “Cornell” Strimple passed away after a long battle with throat cancer. Cornell was born June 8, 1953, and was a life long resident of Port Bolivar, TX.

He was an avid fisherman, usually out catching gaftop, redfish and flounder with his wife and his best fishing buddy Carl Orlando. Cornell also had a great passion for hunting. His favorite time of year was deer hunting season, and become a part-time resident of Onalaska, TX. He had so much love for his “deer lease” family. Kenneth Myrow, Mark Smith and their extended families, along with Brian and Donna Pride, all of the Lake Livingston area.

Cornell loved cooking the seafood he caught almost as much as he loved catching it, along with the fresh vegetables that he grew in his own garden.

Cornell was preceded in death by his Father, George Strimple (who taught him all he knew about fishing and family); Cousin and best friend, Elmo Strimple; his Grandparents and numerous Aunts and Uncles.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melinda “Mindi” Devlin Strimple; Daughter, Chelsea Strimple; his Mother, Theresa Strimple; Sister Rosalee Prestigiacomo (Jim); Brother, Eugene Strimple (Sandra Simmons); Nephews, Jeff Strimple, Cody Strimple, Alex Devlin and Austin Tenley; Nieces, Rachael Devlin and Heather Tenley; Great Niece Capella Strimple; Great Nephew, Silas Strimple; Mother-in-law, Doris Devlin (Leon Fiola), Father-in law, Willy Devlin (Sheila); Brother-in-law, Joe Devlin (Bonnie); plus aunts, uncles, many, many cousins and friends.

Special Thanks and love to cousin and friend Bonnie Strimple Devoe, Patti Strimple Gilmore, Shirley Senseney and Robert and Jerrie Bouse for all of the support and love you all have given us. Also, a big thanks to Nancy Taylor and the rest of the Kindred at Hospice crew.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church, at 12th and Madison in Port Bolivar, TX, The Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Tom Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at the Port Bolivar Cemetery.

Pallbearers chosen by Cornell will be Kenneth Myrow, Mark Smith, Brian Pride, Joe Comeaux, Frankie Senseney and Hoss Strimple. Honorary bearers will be Chris Comeaux, Wayne Mouton, Carl Orlando, Steven Strimple and Robert Bouse.
