At Faye’s request there will be no graveside services.
A memorial church service will be held at Baker Drive Baptist Church, 3900 Baker Drive, Dickinson, Texas on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., with Reverend Steven McGehee officiating.
||Glenda Faye Velasquez, born March 26, 1940, went to walk with our Lord Monday night, December 30, 2013. Born a coal miner’s daughter in Birmingham, Alabama, she was the only girl of six children. Faye, as she was known by all those near and dear to her, was preceded in death by husband Jimmy E. Velasquez, her mom Dorothy Estelle Jacks, dad Britton Frederick Jacks, and eldest brother Sam Jacks.
She is survived by daughter Dianne and husband Mike Taylor of Dickinson, Texas, son Marty and wife Elizabeth McCombs of Galveston, Texas, daughter Tammy Isbell of Birmingham, Alabama, son J.R. Velasquez of Houston, Texas and brothers Jerry, Richard, Larry and Tom Jacks of Birmingham, Alabama. Faye leaves behind many other beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends.
To her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Meemaw”. Her grandchildren that she leaves behind are: granddaughter Magda and husband Mark Honey, granddaughter Britt and husband William Kutz, granddaughter Sophia Elise McCombs, and granddaughters Michelle and Jennifer Isbell. Her great-grandchildren are: Jackson Honey, Isabella Kutz and William Jeffrey Kutz.
Faye was a dedicated member of the VFW Post 6378 Ladies Auxiliary and an active member at the Baker Drive Baptist Church; most of all – Faye loved and enjoyed her close family and friends.
