Services

Connie will be cremated under the guidance of J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas.

She will be returning home to Iowa with a family visitation on October 17, 2014 from 5-7pm and memorial service to be held on October 18, 2014 at 11am at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston following the memorial service.

 

Connie Elaine White, daughter of Ansell Lee and Goldie Lorene (Shell) White was born on June 21, 1939 in Brooks, Adams County, Iowa. She passed away on September 15, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Lisa Masswi, in Galveston, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.

Connie graduated from Creston High School in Creston, Iowa with the class of 1957. Following graduation, she was employed at Bankers Life (now Principal Financial Group) in Des Moines, Iowa, until May of 1963. In January, 1964 she began her career as Office Manager of the Creston News Advertiser and in 1994 was named Human Resources Coordinator in addition to her Office Manager position. She retired December 10, 2004 after 40 years of service to the News Advertiser. In October, 2005, she relocated to Galveston, Texas to be near her daughter and grandchildren. Connie enjoyed reading, watching sports(especially her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Houston Rockets). History and genealogy were also very dear to her and she has compiled volumes of family history which her family will forever treasure. Most important in her life was her family. She so cherished her later years in Galveston being with her grandchildren and sharing all of their experiences and achievements.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Gordon, and her brother-in-law, Doral Colton. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ahmad Masswi of Galveston, Texas; granddaughter, Amena Masswi and grandson, Ali Masswi of Galveston, Texas; one brother, Phil (Patricia) White of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Karen Colton of Carmel, Indiana and Kaira (Stephen) Daughton of Mesa, Arizona; sister-in-law, Donna White of Urbandale, Iowa. Connie also leaves to cherish her memory several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
