A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 11, 2014 at 1pm at the J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, 2128 Broadway, Galveston, TX 77550.

 

Bruce Charles Kirtley, 54, passed away peacefully in faith, at his home July 5, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Bruce was born in Wareham, MA and was raised on Cape Cod in Falmouth, MA. He attended Miami Dade Junior College on a golf scholarship. Later he moved to Galveston, TX making this his home. Bruce thrived in the restaurant industry and was loved by all he served. He found great joy in his years of service at Gaido’s Restaurant to Gulf Greyhound Dog Track ,and especially the past 10 years as bar manager at La Griglia Restaurant.

Bruce is preceded in death by his father Rollin A. Kirtley, Jr., his mother Eleanore R. Kirtley, sister Barbara McCray and brother Rollin A. Kirtley, III. He is survived by his sister Carole Ann Kirtley, brother Richard W. Kirtley and niece Kristin McCray Howard.

Bruce grew up playing golf at Woods Hole Country Club in Falmouth and excelled in golf winning numerous events including the Boston Globe All Scholastic in 1978. As a youth of 17 he won the Cape Cod Pro Am Schoolboy Championship and the Air New England North East Junior Classic. His achievements also included wining the Galveston County Golf Championships four times. He loved the game, but truly loved the friendships and the memories he made along the way. Bruce traveled the world and sought the very best in life. He stayed true to his Boston roots, loyal to his Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox.
