  Sam G. Tramonte, age 77, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Galveston, Texas on March 16, 1935. He was graduate of Kirwin High School, St. Edward’s University and the University of Texas School of Law. He practiced law in Galveston for over 50 years. Sam was a member of O’Connell High School Board, St. Edward’s Board of Trustees and was a St. Edward’s Distinguished Alumni. He was also a member of the Galveston Wharves Board as well as serving a term as chairman of the Galveston Wharves Board, and he was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish Council and Counselor of St. Mary’s Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dominick and Ida Tramonte; step-mother Antoinette Termini Tramonte; and brother Nick Tramonte.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan B. Tramonte; children Jacquelyn Kleypas and husband Mark, Michael Tramonte and wife Kathy, Carol Rekoff and husband Gregg, Paul Tramonte and wife Anita and Steven Tramonte and wife Candie; grandchildren Kristen Kleypas, Matt and Kyle Tramonte, Megan R. Rice and husband Jacob, Ethan Staton, Sophia, Sam and Gianna Tramonte, Mia and Tanner Tramonte; sister-in-law Betsy Horner and husband Les; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Kristen Kleypas, Matt Tramonte, Kyle Tramonte, Jacob Rice, Robert Bastein and Pete Urbani, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be V.J. Tramonte, Glenn Brouillard and Vincent Soler and Dr. Ron Bailey.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Tom Blackwell, Dr. Maurice Willis, Dr. Eric Walser and their respective staff, especially Colleen Stegman and Pam Powers, Right At Home in-House Care and Associates and A-Med Hospice.

Donations may be made to the O’Connell College Prep High School, Holy Family Catholic School or charity of one’s choice.
