Francisca Salas, age 73, of Stafford, Texas and long-time resident of Galveston Island, Texas, has gone to join her brother Victor Salas, who preceded her in death last year. She was born on October 3, 1939. She died at Ashton Park Nursing Center on Sunday, September 15, 2013, after a long illness of Atherosclerosis. Many people know her from her working at The Peacock Café and later at Walgreen’s where she worked for 27 years. She was very outgoing and had personable personality, and she was appreciated by all of her customers for her diligent service to them. You could always count on her to greet you. She lived most of her life on the Island and always called it hers.

She is survived by her son Charles Strickland; her brothers, Benito Salas and Jacinto Salas of Galveston, Alexander Salas of San Antonio; sisters, Helen Salas Caviston of Tulsa, OK, and Beatrice Gonzales of San Antonio; and numerous other relatives and friends, including grandchildren. She will sadly be missed by all who loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home, with Deacon Henry Herrera officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service time beginning at 11:00 A.M.
