Cheryl Dawn Gonzales, 49 years young, left this world on April 29th, 2013 to be with the Lord and reunited with her parents. Cheryl was born in Galveston, Texas in 1963. The daughter of Charles “Chopsy” Gonzales Jr. and Margaret Gonzales. She attended Ball High School and enjoyed participating in SMAC her senior year, “82”.

Cheryl lived her life carefree and for the moment. She enjoyed socializing, talking to friends she had known a lifetime, laughing and sharing those old crazy stories. She enjoyed meeting new people and making new memories.

Some would write that in these days, to judge one’s accomplishments in life you would look at job titles, degrees, etc. Here is Cheryl’s life accomplishments that have impacted so many and her legacy will never be forgotten. Cheryl never married or had any children of her own but she helped raise a family. She has played a role in raising every single one of her nephews and nieces. Some periods were short in duration and some for over 25 years. She has even blessed the lives of their children especially in the raising of Melissa Angelica (her baby girl) and Dominic Christopher (her best friend). Her kind, loving ways and toughness has taught them many of life’s valuable lessons.

Cheryl has given her life to caring for others. This holds true to the relentless way she loved and cared for her parents throughout their lives, ending days and beyond. She frequently visited their gravesite and would visit for hours. Sometimes talking, sometimes just being there.

So now we reluctantly release you from your dedication to your family. We pray for you as you make your journey from this world to the next. We take comfort in knowing you are going to be with the Lord and be reunited with your parents. We will hold you in our hearts, our minds and our prayers until we meet again.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, Charles Gonzales Jr., mother, Margaret Gonzales and sister Cynthia Corpus.

She is survived by sister Margaret Abete & husband Ruben and their two sons Jesus Abete and Gabriel Abete; brother Frank Corpus; sister Gloria Corpus Castillo and her three daughters, Elisa, Alexis and Andrea; brother Chris Gonzales and his two daughters, Ashley Horace And Marie Gonzales; and great nephews and a great niece.
